Coalesce: Free Bidirectional Delay Plugin by Modulor Audio
Modulor Audio has released Coalesce, an experimental bidirectional delay effect designed for forward, reverse, and hybrid echo processing. Available as a free download for macOS and Windows, the plugin features a modular feedback effects loop, an integrated diffusion engine, and parametric ducking. If you are searching for an inspiring free delay plugin in 2026, Coalesce offers extensive sound design capability without any paywalls.
Bidirectional Delays and Feedback Processing
The core strength of Coalesce lies in its continuous direction control, which allows producers to blend seamlessly between standard forward repeats and fully reversed delay lines. An integrated Offset control alters reverse delay timing by up to 25%, helping align backwards textures precisely to your project tempo.
Beyond basic repeats, Coalesce features a drag-and-drop FX chain framework that can be routed across both the feedback path and the primary delay channels:
- Delay-based Pitch Shift module with Grain Size control
- Dual resonant filters for high-pass and low-pass sculpting
- Saturation and distortion module
- Ring modulation for metallic sound design
- Built-in limiter and gain utility stage
Diffusion Engine and Dynamic Ducking
To bridge the gap between echo and spatial reverb, Coalesce includes an onboard Diffusion Engine capable of producing up to 50ms of diffuse reverb tails directly from delay repeats. An integrated Parametric Ducker compresses wet reflections against dry incoming audio, ensuring your mix remains articulate during dense arrangements.
